The Benefits of Tai Chi For Those 65+
According to Statistics Canada, there are 35.8 million people in Canada today. 5.78 million of these people are aged sixty-five and older. That means one in six Canadians are in this age group. It is the first time in Canada that there are more people in the 65+ age group than children aged 0-14 years.
These older Canadians have many ways to keep fit in their lives. A great way to do so is through Tai Chi. Health Harvard describes Tai Chi as “meditation in motion” and others say it’s “medication in motion”. The health benefits of Tai Chi are phenomenal, providing for good aerobic conditioning and development and maintenance of strength, flexibility and balance, not to mention keeping the mind in focus. It’s a great way to keep fit without hurting yourself and it’s one of the most mobile exercise systems – it can be done anywhere and especially out in nature.
